I have always dryed off quickly after washing off. It has been used a handful of times over a few months. It has split right down the middle. It has never been dropped or mishandled. I love the size of this. I have a much larger (12x18), thicker, hardwood board, but it requires two hands to maneuver. I am finding this board much easier to use.The surface has a noticeable grain, which feels as if it might splinter, but it hasn't. In fact, it's quite strong and so far has stood up to chopping for four meals without a mark. I even pounded nine chicken cutlets on it (three at a time) on waxed paper.I washed it, wiped it dry, and oiled it with coconut oil, which is antibacterial and anti-fungal. (Coconut oil is edible. It hardens in a cool room, like lard, but my kitchen is warm, so it stays as liquid as olive oil.) It sank into the board and brought out the color nicely.If you do a lot of slicing and dicing, try it out!
