They look very different. The F-1000 is much longer and thinner **Q: Seems like this filter does nothing for removing lead, arsenic and other heavy metals. Is this right? Is there a comparable filter that does?** A: Unfortunately they don't tell us exactly what that does and doesn't filter other then saying it filters particles down to 5 microns. I would reach out to Insinkerator directly to see if they have a recommendation. **Q: We have bad iron in our water. Anyone have luck getting iron out with this filter?** A: I suggest you put a whole house 5 micron sediment filter on your main where it enters the house. Use this F1000s filter as a additional secondary filter for the hot water dispenser. When you replace the filter after six months, check it for brownish metallic color and with a magnet to determine how much iron it holds, and whether this reduces after several filter changes.
