I keep mine in a closed hard case and am able to maintain the humidity level around 50 in dry west Texas. It's dryer in winter. I have come to the conclusion that the only way I can hang, or leave my vintage acoustic guitars out on stands or hanging is in a humidity/ temperature controlled room. My only complaint is that the sponge dries out pretty quickly because it is small, so this method of humidifying a guitar is pretty high maintenance. Also, some mold grew on the sponge even though I have been using distilled water. I had to rinse it in diluted bleach to get rid of the mold, then I rinsed the sponge very thoroughly with distilled water.
