My neck was in such severe pain I was desperate for a brace or support of some kind. There were so many different types on Amazon so I selected the one with the most promising reviews, but I quickly learnt that that was my mistake. The item came with a note offering a free item upon providing a 5-star review *light bulb moment*. For the moral sake of my fellow Amazon buyers, this product simply does not warrant my continual contribution to the skewed reviews.The biggest thing is that it really stinks (and I generally have a weak and very tolerant sense of smell). With most items I receive I expect to arrive with some sort of factory-manufactured stink. But there was something about this smell - it was very chemically disturbing and made me suspiciously nauseous too quickly. I suppose it doesn't help that it's the kind of item you wear very close to your face/nose (which would make this consideration particularly important). I tried to let it air out but the smell seems to be ingrained and lingered even after several days - bad enough that I would rather not wear it.That being said, let's assume I got a lemon (though they prob all have a similar smell to different degrees). In terms of support, I can't say it does nothing. But it was just okay and didn't live up to the high expectations generated by its almost-perfect track record in reviews nor justify the price. It's very uncomfortable. It felt and looked way more awkward than it functioned. The build quality is mediocre. There's a tiny ball inside the tube that blocks the airway, which you manually move in and out of the tube - that felt kind of ghetto, though I admit effectively so.There are some positives, believe it or not. Like I said, it does offer some support and maybe it would provide some long-term (or short-term) relief if only I were able to tolerate the smell long enough to wear it for an extended period of time. So I admit I can't truly evaluate its effectiveness.
