Made from Rockwool, these plugs provide excellent nutrient absorption and oxygen retention, supporting plants through various growth stages. Each order includes 5 THCity Stakes for added support, making it an ideal choice for both novice and experienced gardeners. ## Description Grodan Rockwool is made from molten rock spun into cotton candy-like fibers and then compressed into cubes, blocks, or slabs. Where other rockwool brand manufacturers cut all sizes from one batch of wool, Grodan is unique by making different types of fibers. The purpose is to support the requirement of the plant in the different plant stages. Grodan has a tremendous capacity for absorbing nutrient solution while retaining plenty of oxygen for rapid plant growth. Grodan comes in graduated sizes. Seedlings started in cubes are easily transferred to blocks and then onto slabs, if desired. Seedlings or cuttings started in the Grodan cubes can also be transplanted into more traditional planters and growing mediums. Grodan A-OK plugs are designed for seed and cutting propagation prior to "blocking on" into larger growing blocks. The V-shape design of the plug discourages tangling of roots between the plugs in the A-OK plug sheet. Review: Misleading Description - These are not what I would call 1 inch. At best 5/8 . Sure I can return them but the postage to send them back to California from Canada is crazy and negates any refund. Disappointing that the description is misleading. They are not worth the money I paid. Review: I have bought theses cubes more than once - Love these things! I have a Gardyn system and I do not want to purchase their replacement cubes. Way too expensive so I use these and they work exactly the same! Rooting seems to be perfect and the blocks are durable enough to cut with a knife while still allowing germination! ## Features - Ideal for Hydroponics and Soilless Growing - Rockwool cubes provide excellent water retention and air flow, making them perfect for hydroponic systems, aeroponics, and other soilless grow methods. - Promotes Strong Root Development - Engineered for optimal root aeration, Grodan cubes encourage rapid and healthy root formationβ€”ideal for seeds, clones, and cuttings. - Easy to Use for Propagation - Simply wet, insert seeds or cuttings, and place in a tray or grow system. Grodan cubes maintain structure and moisture without mess or soil. - Great for Seed Starting and Cloning- Perfectly sized for germination trays and humidity domes. Great for vegetables, herbs, flowers, and cultivation. - Sterile and pH Neutral Growing Medium - Made from spun basalt rock, Grodan rockwool is an inert and sterile substrate with a balanced pHβ€”ideal for supporting healthy root development from seed to transplant. ## Technical Specifications | Specification | Value | |---------------|-------| | ASIN | B078HC9DTQ | | Brand | The Hydroponic City | | Brand Name | The Hydroponic City | | Color | White | | Colour | White | | Customer Reviews | 4.5 out of 5 stars 1,079 Reviews | | Indoor Outdoor Usage | Indoor | | Indoor/outdoor use | Indoor | | Item Weight | 0.7 Pounds | | Item weight | 0.7 Pounds | | Manufacturer | The Hydroponic City | | Material Features | Natural | | Material features | Natural | | Number of Pieces | 98 | | Other Special Features of the Product | organic | | Special features | organic | | Style Name | Tube | | Unit Count | 1.0 Count | ## Product Details - **Brand:** The Hydroponic City - **Color:** White - **Indoor/Outdoor Usage:** Indoor - **Item Weight:** 11.18 ounces - **Material Feature:** Natural - **Number of Pieces:** 98 - **Special Feature:** organic - **Style:** Tube - **Unit Count:** 1.0 Count ## Images ![The Hydroponic City 1.5 Grodan Rockwool Cubes for Seed Starter (98 Hydroponic Plugs) + Stakes - Image 1](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/7162ZHhFirL.jpg) ![The Hydroponic City 1.5 Grodan Rockwool Cubes for Seed Starter (98 Hydroponic Plugs) + Stakes - Image 2](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/51PBHWo8ycL.jpg) ## Available Options This product comes in different **Size** options. ## Questions & Answers **Q: Would these fit inside an aerogarden plastic cage?** A: Yes if they are the small cages. **Q: I bought this is it good for seeds?** A: It is fantastic for germinating seeds, **Q: Do these ship in packaging that prevents the plugs from being crushed during transportation?** A: Yes. My plugs were not damaged at all. **Q: Can these then be planted in soil outside and deteriorate?** A: They can be, best if roots are extending out of it first, and if you leave a little bit of it sticking out of the soil. They won't deteriorate, rockwool is basalt rock that's been superheated and then spun like cotton candy ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐ Misleading Description *by S***A on 18 September 2021* These are not what I would call 1 inch. At best 5/8 . Sure I can return them but the postage to send them back to California from Canada is crazy and negates any refund. Disappointing that the description is misleading. They are not worth the money I paid. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I have bought theses cubes more than once *by C***A on 20 August 2026* Love these things! I have a Gardyn system and I do not want to purchase their replacement cubes. Way too expensive so I use these and they work exactly the same! Rooting seems to be perfect and the blocks are durable enough to cut with a knife while still allowing germination! ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Very good small cubes *by T***M on 17 July 2021* I've purchased 3 times already for my hydro set up. No issues whatsoever with sprouting. They are 1 inch cubes though, which is smaller than the standard 1.5 inch cubes! Some comments complain about the size, but I actually like to use 1 inch cubes for small crops like lettuce and pak choy. ## Frequently Bought Together - 1.5" Grodan Rockwool Cubes for Seed Starter (98 Hydroponic Plugs) + The Hydroponic City Stakes - HydroDynamics Clonex Rooting Compound, 100 ml - General Hydroponics pH Control Kit For A Balanced Nutrient Solution --- ## Why Shop on Desertcart? - πŸ›’ **Trusted by 1.3+ Million Shoppers** β€” Serving international shoppers since 2016 - 🌍 **Shop Globally** β€” Access 737+ million products across 21 categories - πŸ’° **No Hidden Fees** β€” All customs, duties, and taxes included in the price - πŸ”„ **15-Day Free Returns** β€” Hassle-free returns (30 days for PRO members) - πŸ”’ **Secure Payments** β€” Trusted payment options with buyer protection - ⭐ **TrustPilot Rated 4.5/5** β€” Based on 8,000+ happy customer reviews **Shop now:** [https://www.desertcart.hr/products/369416370-the-hydroponic-city-1-5-grodan-rockwool-cubes-for-seed](https://www.desertcart.hr/products/369416370-the-hydroponic-city-1-5-grodan-rockwool-cubes-for-seed) --- *Product available on Desertcart Croatia* *Store origin: HR* *Last updated: 2026-10-03*
