Review: Savory, almost nutty flavor/ Versatile - I bought this to use as a cheese substitute in cooking/breads. I will say, not a great substute in breads. Where it has a savory, cheddar bay buscuit flavor, you NEED some cheddar in it too, but honestly, it would make some delicious cheddar bay biscuits.. i digress. I also wanted to try this in mac and cheese. This has a very "nutty/umami" flavor profile. It definitely tastes more like parmesan than cheddar, but that isn't necessarily a bad thing. If making mac & cheese, I would think that milk powder would need to be used in conjunction with this powder, otherwise, flavor would not likely be as "right". Ingredients are solid, and it's a surprisingly fortified mixture. The package is not huge, but if you don't use a lot at a time, it will last for several meals. I've used under 1/10th of the bag on 2 or 3 meals, already. I would say it's a decent value for the cost. It's a great substitute for parmesan in alfredo sauce, it does taste a bit different, but not bad. Interesting product, very savory, almost nutty flavor that most closely resembles parmesan, when cooked, it has a creamier texture, not gritty.
