However the bottom is 1/4 inch thick. My guess it's 1/4" aluminum covered with a stainless steel bottom to prevent discoloration and wear. Aluminum is used when you want to transmit heat quickly and evenly to the pan/pot. **Q: What are diameters of cooking pans?** A: Sauce pan is 7 (purchased separately) 9.5 frypan is 8" diameter, 11 inch frypan is 10" diameter.
