I literally used it till it no longer worked. In researching a replacement, KitchenAid brand was a must. I like the rubber on the blades, the whisk attachment and how easy it is to store them on the unit. It's easy to clean, and when I used it for the first time, it was quiet and got the job done. If my original KitchenAid mixer lasted 27 years, I'm certain this one will do the same. It's a great mixer, funcional, quiet, and I like the color and that it stores the blades and whisk.
