I got the modern version which is not as flimsy around the ankle. These have great traction, super light, and well-priced. As far as value, well they are inexpensive. People that don't undo the laces before pulling off risk tearing the heel or serparating the boot from the sole--that's just a given since these are not goodyear welted. IF that ever happened, Shoe Goo is your solution. No worries! The insoles are great, pretty comfy. I love the look too! I use these around the house doing odd chores. These are meant for mud, not asphalt. Therefore, the soft rubber will wear fast if you use them as your daily street boot. Treat them like winter tires: specific use for deep traction-required scenarios. They are ISO 9001 which should mean a lot about quality! That was a surprise too. And, these fit exactly like my other boots: I got the same size as normal. I highly recommend these boots.
