The pivot point where it folds is held together with standard bolts and nuts, not some cheap rivets. The legs are solid one piece steel bar. The pen in the photos is for size reference. It’s highly unlikely, but if the legs ever got bent or damaged, it would be easy to replace them. I’ve used grill grates a lot in my life and this is one of the most heavy duty ones I’ve ever seen. It’s not as large as some, but more than ample for cooking for up to four people, I’d say. You won’t be disappointed in this grate! Update! Now that I’ve used this, I can say it works perfectly for my needs! Easy to cook for 4 people, holds up very well sitting over fire and coals for long periods, the griddle side is great for cooking fish, and it’s super easy to clean! To do this first Allow your campfire to cook down and make some nice hot coals, because ideally you don't want to be cooking directly over flames as it's much harder to control the temperature. Pull some hot coals to the side of the campfire with a long shovel or similar and place the campfire grill over the hot coals. Allow the campfire grill to get really hot. Once the campfire grill is nice and hot, give it a good spray with cooking oil. What you are trying to do is get it super hot to burn off anything that might be on it from the factory, the same as you would do with any of your cast iron or steel BBQ cooking accessories. 
 Leave the oil on the hot grill for about 5 minutes then give it one final clean with some paper towel or similar. (these instructions are also sent to your email after purchasing) After cooking with your campfire grill clean the surface by gently scrapping of the an excess food then clean the surface with hot soapy water rise with hot water and dry thoroughly. As mentioned in come of the reviews, when open, it remains at a light angle outwards so liquids may run towards one direction but definitely doable! **Q: One customer reports a strong smell which means the coating is off gassing, you say it's FDA approved food safe, but you can't tell me what it is?** A: I allowed the powder coating to burn oven a blazing fire, then peeled with grill wire brush - no remnants.
