My wife stole my other one to use in her Nail Salon. Damn, the cord is short. I have some technical info on the wattage, which represents the degree brightness: 6.2W - 10W - 15.8W - 25W. (I've been playing with a wattage meter.) I decided I rarely need the magnifying glass but I do need a bright desk lamp for reading. I think the brightest LED lamp I found elsewhere was 14 watts. This one is significantly brighter. Still giving it only four stars due to the short cord. ***I just received my new TekLine Prolite. Heavy base, rubber covered gooseneck, and huge lens. Solidly built! I plugged it in and pressed the power button. Okay light, not the brightest, but it will work. I press it again, but instead of turning off, it got brighter. Great! Pressed again, even brighter. Again, extremely bright. I'm loving it. So . . . four levels of brightness, from okay to blaring. Nice. I like a lot of light and this definitely fills the bill. Also, the light is cold light, meaning sunlight brightness, not the warm, yellowish color of an incandescent bulb. I was having trouble seeing some illustrations in a book, telling me I needed something like this. I am new to things like this, so my description is that of a newbie. I test out my new toy. I try reading a page of text and my eyes are having trouble focusing. I close one eye and the double images go away. I got my teenage daughter to test it out and she didn't have this problem. It may be due to my eyeglass prescription. A wide angle of undistorted viewing, but I can't figure out how to read an entire line of text without moving the page. Almost with this large lens, but not quite. I don't think I'll be using the magnifying glass for reading. For manipulating things up close, this will be a life saver.I gave this a four versus five stars for one simple reason -- I feel the cord is too short. It is five feet long. Another foot and it would have been fine. I had to get an extension cord to reach the outlet behind my desk.I am giving this a review because there wasn't much buyer opinion when I bought it. I took a risk and I'd say I did pretty good with this purchase.*** Another Update: I forgot I had already done a review. I love this lamp SO much that I bought a third (and sadly so does my family love it.) My daughter is taking an electronics class in college and now she is taking over the lamp. Ugh! Believe me, this is one of my better purchases from Amazon. I don't use the magnifying glass that much, but when I need to read those little tiny numbers that I can barely make out, this lamp is indispensable.
