This is the correct thickness and seems well made. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because the mattress cover is slippery and tends to wrinkle. The fitted sheet slips off the corners. And because my mattress is not super thick, the mattress cover wrinkles. The sides are sheer but waterproof and the top part has a towel texture but underside is waterproof so that is good.
