Review: I have purchased 2 j-tech splitters, the oldest in 2013. My use is having one input from my AV receiver (which handles selectable multiple inputs) to multiple TVs including one projector. I even have one HDMI cable go from a 4 port switch t the second floor, and then another j-tech splitter split it again. Works flawlessly, though on the Last long connection from one side of the second floor to the other, I needed one small in line Tripp Lite extender. I get exactly what I wanted. The ability to run multiple simultaneous outputs from a single source. Projector, bedroom, office, cardio room, basement, even an outdoor hot tub. I have no additonal ports available, but because of the excellent results I have received on the previous ones, and the fact my first purchase was n 2013, I will be purchasing their 8 port unit shortly. For me it has been an excellent product, does what I purchased it for, and has been reliable. That's why it is the only brand I looked for, when I had a need for a larger unit. Only advice I have, given not much difference in costs for more ports, is purchase a larger unit to start with. You never know when you'll want more expansion. Review: HDMI splitters seem to be tricky technology as there are a lot of negative reviews out there for a host of different types and manufacturers. After reading a lot of different reviews on desertcart, I decided to give this unit a try after the first unit I tried, one by Mediabridge, did not work properly (no sound on one of my three HDTVs regardless of cable length or port on the splitter used). This J-Tech unit was ALMOST the one as it seemed to work properly right out of the box with all 3 TVs having uncompromised sound and picture. Unfortunately, after several hours I noticed momentary drop outs of a few seconds of both sound and picture, regardless of the TV being watched or how many were on. This anomaly occurred infrequently (once every several hours) so I wasn't sure if I should keep the unit or not. I decided that, instead of returning the unit immediately, I would try a 3rd unit, one by ViewHD, and keep the one that performed better. In short, the ViewHD unit also had great sound and picture and with no drop outs after hours of viewing. The ViewHD unit also was about 20% less costly and had an On/Off switch (the J-Tech unit did not). The cinched the deal for ViewHD and the J-Tech unit was promptly returned. One other item worth mentioning regarding the J-Tech splitter is that they sent me TWO separate e-mails asking how I liked the unit and to contact them prior to posting a negative review. Sorry, J-Tech but there are no settings or adjustments on the unit and I used brand new HDMI cables that work without the unit in series, so there was no installation issue on my end. When it is clear that the unit does not work properly out of the box, the unit is GOING BACK to desertcart for a refund and I am going to post an honest review about my experience without contacting the manufacturer first. That's why people shop on desertcart, to get a good price and the straight scoop. I am not going to fool around with a warranty return on a brand new unit when I can get my money back and try another brand. You should expect that. It works right out of the box (just follow the instruction and power up the splitter FIRST, then other devices). 2. No malfunctioning - every time you power on/off another device, the picture is displayed on all screens (tried up to three), with just a short blink. So far no glitches. 3. Picture quality is really good, no degradation visible on my big 4K screens (up to 75") despite using HDMI cables up to 50' long. CONS: Despite what is written in the description, it does only transmit PCM Stereo to output device(s) when the input signal is available in Dolby Digital (Plus), DTS, etc. I installed the splitter for the Verizon FIOS DVR and suddenly noticed that my receiver started displaying the incoming audio signal type as PCM Stereo. So I staged a couple of experiments: 1. I connected the DVR HDMI output directly to the receiver, bypassing the splitter, and immediately got Dolby Digital 5.1 instead of PCM Stereo. No other changes were introduced. 2. I realized that the splitter somehow "degraded" the audio signal, only passing thtough PCM, but was perfect for video. So I added an SPDIF optical and a coaxial cable running parallel to HDMI cables for two TVs connected through recievers. Not so beautiful and obviously redundant, but no other way to get both the picture and 5.1 signal to multiple TVs. Once again, this setup works, and the sound is 5.1, not PCM Stereo. This has clearly demonstrated that the splitter somehow passes through only PCM Stereo. Do not ask me why. This is true even when a single output TV is powered up.
