It's a bit heavy to move around, but not unmanageable (also, I suppose you could attach casters to the bottom to roll it around :) I use a flexible duct attached to the output collar to exhaust the clean air outside of my work area (plus it helps keep from stirring up additional dust, etc). On "high" it is a bit noisy, after all it's moving 600CFM of air volume, so expect some HVAC type "white" noise. That said, my clientele loves that I'm being proactive in removing any generated airborne dust as we do our installations. We do electrical contracting work (mostly residential remodel/ upgrades). Often we're using high velocity cutting tools (Fein, Rotozip, etc), so the noise from the air scrubber pales in comparison to the other noise we generate. Bottom line: I would highly recommend this unit. Should be fine for the pre filters. I order mine in bulk from an online vendor which helps with costs. Also, I think I couldn't find that 12" by 12" size locally at Depot or Lowes.... **Q: Can I buy a carbon filter for this machine? I open a window and run the duct through a piece of cardboard or plywood with the right sized hole cut in it and seal with tape. **Q: How often are you supposed to change the filter?** A: It really depends on how dirty the ambient surroundings are (how much airborne dust/ debris, etc is being produced by each project/ area). The unit has a built in indicator light that activates if the unit is working too hard to pull air in through a dirty pre filter. Although, in all fairness, I've always been more proactive about replacing my pre filters before that actually happens :^) That said, you can stock up on pre filters from Allfilters.com. Get the merv 11, 12" x 12" x 1" at about $ 4.25 each (I order twelve or so at a time, fits perfectly and well worth the money).
