I am worried about safety and young kids...** A: It takes quite a but of leverage to initially pull it down and the handle is high. We have a five year old who is tall for his age and he would not be able to pull it down on his own. It is designed to ease down so it moves slowly in the beginning. It took a while to put together and there are many steps, but the bed and cabinets are good quality and very sturdy. I called Bestar to replace one piece that was slightly damaged and to order the Velcro strap and screw covers. Their customer service is what made me a huge fan! I did not have to send them pictures of the damaged piece—they actually believed me! They sent everything out to me right away at no charge! Super friendly and responsive and good quality.
