If your going to power a 1000w amp you need 4 gauge wire. 18 gauge wire is good for low voltage lights, not powering or extending the length of the power cord for a 1000w amplifier. **Q: Why is the max voltage for the 18G wire only 12V when their thinner 22G wire can handle up to 24V?** A: 18AWG wire can handle upto 48v, however for safety and stablity consideration, we suggest not to work more than 24v, better upto 12v. **Q: Will this work for home thermostat application?** A: Certainly. **Q: Will this work for doorbell?** A: Yes it will.
