I have been using gaffers tape for a long time for my photography and household use. This tape compares to the expensive gaffers pro tape that I used for over 10 years. No residue, as far as I have tested 1 week on and no residue. Definitely as any time if you leave it for a long time you will get residue. But this is not a permanent solution, same with gaffers pro tape.
