Hole spacing from the center to the outside is exactly 16" to match standard US stud spacing, so all you need to do is to find the stud for the center holes, drill/screw one hole, mount and level up, and your spacing will be correct for the other studs. If you take this approach, you'll use the smaller round holes on the edges vs. the larger keyed holes that are spaced around 17" from the center. (Vertical hole spacing is 6").
