I installed them on with no problem on a 14 high door, you just have to make sure the shaft for the springs is a keyed shaft **Q: how long does 1" shaft have to be for the pulley assembly to fit?** A: The pulley and guide are about 1” so I guess you would need about 1 1/2” **Q: I have only 1" of shaft sticking out to attach the hoist so I assume this hoist will not work?** A: I had to extend mine. **Q: Nodrogrb, how did you extend it?** A: We put a longer tight fitting pipe into the existing one from the door and used a pipe the same size as the door pipe to extend it out further. Works like a charm.
