This was for 1/4" acrylic in my case, and with that keyway, once the hinge was pushed all the way on, the key snapped into the keyway and I could try with all my might but the hinge would not come off without tools (like a spudger). The grip on this hinge is fantastic. I put it on a door that was 21" wide by 14" tall and it is absolutely solidly connected. I've had it on for 18 months now, opening the lid 3-4 times daily, with no issues. Getting the plexi in the firs time took a little while, as it grips pretty tightly, but if you slide it in from one end it's fine. After a year and a half of taking it off for cleaning and reinstalling, it's loosened up so reinstallation is a breeze, but it still grips well. I liked that they come in pairs as I anticipated it wearing out, but it's been doing fine long enough that I've forgotten where I put the second one.
