It would have been better to leave the mat while and have the customer cut it according to your own machine. I use clear shipping tape to secure the edges because my previous smaller mat became loose at the edges while machine quilting anlarger quilt and I stitched through the mat. Supposedly if you rinse the mat with water after each use, the mat will not loosen while stitching but I had done that.
