Review: French drain - parts - Not sure if it is worth my time writing an review for these type of parts - being I believe nearly all of you are 'couch potatoes' - meaning 'you are lazy' too lazy to dig an trench for an French drain. What kind of sealant do you guys use** A: The flex tubes connect to this "Y" via these couplers: Flex-Drain 55020 Drain Pipe Coupler Adapter, Female to Female. It's not a very tight connection/seal so water does leak. I used silicone tape which helped for a few months until the tape fell off. **Q: I set up this system following the manufacturer's instructions/video on the website but water leaks from all 3 ends of the T/Y. Any suggestions?** A: these type of tile fittings are not designed to be water tight , they were originally designed for farm field drainage ,with some leakage , that doesn't really matter in farm drainage.( over time they do seal up, with dirt). If you need a water tight connection this is not going to work. They do make a connecter that goes from " field tile" to pvc that is water proof, it is a "fernco style" fitting.(rubber with hose clamps on each end). Hope this helps! I my self found this particular fitting to be poorly made and threw mine away. **Q: What length will the vertical part of the "T" expand to?** A: The best I can remember it would expand to about 12" total. Solid product. **Q: I have new 6 inch downsprouts being installed. Will this product work it seems only for more common 4"? TY.** A: Flex-Drain does NOT make piping nor adapters for 6" items. Their connectors and piping deal with 3" and 4" piping/components. Seems like a lot of folks commenting here would do themselves a huge favor by going to the www.flex-drain.com website and doing some research before getting deep into the project and/or just buying and hoping that everything fits together. It's flexible plastic pipe. It's not meant to be a one size fits all type of solution, so yes, it will fail for what some want to do with it. Some of the negative comments and reviews don't seem fair. If you want to use this in a commercial or industrial environment, you might be better off utilizing solid piping solutions. This particular WYE is one I rather like, since it is a corrugated 4" for the "straight" and then the "Y" itself is flexible and will accommodate either 3" or 4" corrugated drainpipes. This is a VERY clever design and one I rather like or the pure 4" or 3" WYEs, since both can be accommodated. The WYE itself is made of a softer plastic which works well for drains when buried; the "hard" ones can get brittle over time, whereas these don't. I like them. There was an issue with the shipping though, and here I felt this instance was so silly I had to say something about it. I have attached a picture above.....that box is HUGE (approximately two feet by three feet), with a bit of packing paper in the box and then the WYE itself. That's IT......so much waste here. Fortunately I can put it all into the fireplace, but surely Amazon could have found a more appropriate box? At any rate, I am glad to get the WYE as I lay out plans for some drainage work next springtime.
