There are only a few pricy pencils that meet these qualifications. This brand is not one of them so no, they are not professional quality. They are cheap generic Chinese made pencils-the exact same pencils are sold under a bunch of different names. They are not bad for adults who want to use them in coloring books but they do not compare with Prismacolors. I just spray my pages to make them lightfast since my pencils (higher quality than this brand) are not lightfast either. If you had ever used Prismacolor Premiers, you would not mistake the two. Very different. **Q: Is Kalour an American brand ?** A: They are designed by kalour stationery in Houston, but made in China **Q: I actually thought I was buying wax pencils, is the smell normal because they’re oil based or is that a China thing? Ive coloured in johanna basford, hanna karlzon rita berman and some of those small square cozy books that are so popular ill show what ive coloured on here.I love the tins so i only collect the tinned kalour pencils. I love how they look stacked in my cuboard and the paper inside for swatching them.I colour alot so prismacolour wouldnt last long for me and i cant burn through money like that and i enjoy how these look which you can see in different colouring books ive coloured that ive attached to this review. I dont get much breakage at all and they sharpen well. There better than Arrtx,brutfuner, black widow and hiforny ive compared them to and these pencils dont work in all the paper textures and have low pigments or are scratchy so i know to stick to kalour.
