I thought I could not get the pole to fit into the hole in the bamboo base. The first few times I tried I could see the shape of the hole was not the same as the base and the hole was just a bit too small. But then I tried again and got some leverage and put some muscle into it and succeeded! The wood is soft enough to accommodate and the pole end fits snugly all the way up to where it should. I bought this several years ago and just now decided to use it. Unfortunately the plant I had initially purchased it for died before I could use the light. But my present plants are looking good under it. The light seems to bring out their beautiful green colors.
