My railing is less then 10 feet** A: I used fabric scissors and cut off the excess after securing it on the last section. I didn’t have any issues with fraying. **Q: how long are the each of the zip ties that come with it?** A: 8" ties. I ordered the white mess, which is a much cleaner look. My railing is black & I opted out of the white ties. Bought black ties, very cheap, in 8+10". works great! **Q: It does work for the sun and rain at the balcony all the year ?** A: Banister guard is very durable & stands up to all weather elements. The bright white color will fade though. After withstanding a NE winter I did purchase a new guard & placed it over the1st guard on the balcony.
