A knee-high or calf-high nylon stocking makes a good strainer, and any big bowl will do for pouring the kava into. With the kava in the strainer, submerge it and then massage it. I usually massage it for about 5 to 7 minutes. As you manipulate the kava the water will begin to look muddy as the kava is emulsified.
