It doesn't stick as far off as people described so I was surprised to find the size was very reasonable in my eyes. I don't know I'd call it low profile as it's super short, but I would consider it low profile as it is as a whole as small as it can be without being too small to be useful (note: it looks disproportionately tall because the distance between the front shock bands and back shock bands is very short, possibly less than an inch).It comes with extra shock mount bands, can be adjusted at the neck for any angle, has a hotshoe mount, and comes with adapters to be used with a tripod sized bolt, and a boom pole, etc. I really couldn't ask for more. Using it to boom a Rode NTG-2 and it works great! There isn't any handle noise aside from handle noise that comes from mishandling of the boom pole, or the XLR cord. These are issues that exist with all shock mounts though.The reviewer who said they have the Rode NTG-3 that it would not hold must have gotten a fake chinese knock off from ebay that was made out of lead, because the NTG-2 is 161 grams and the NTG-3 is 163 grams. I'm quite certain 2 extra grams wouldn't make this lose its grip. It may not have as much grip as a more expensive option, but you have to consider what you're paying. It's also possible that the reviewer was not properly wrapping/attaching the XLR cord, to keep the weight of the cord from causing such issues, but I will give them the benefit of the doubt on that one.I got it on sale a little cheaper than it is now, but even for $20 this is an exceptional shock mount. You wont regret getting it. Not sure what the other reviewers were up in arms about, I couldn't ask for more and with proper care I expect to continue using this for years to come. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5.0 out of 5 stars Good for the price, nice extras *by F***O on Reviewed in the United States on November 7, 2013* I bought this as a back-up for my other boom pole shock mount and as an alternate on-camera mount. It's a little weak for my shotgun mic (Sennheiser MKH-416) especially with a fuzzy wind screen so there's significant sag, but I utilized one of extra o-rings to help strengthen it and it works great with that configuration but I wonder if it might be a little stiff so some frequencies may end up being transferred. The included hot shoe-mount is great for attaching to my camera and the interchangeable connectors make it possible to switch this from camera mount to boom pole pretty easily. Overall, this unit is a bit small for regular use on a boom pole with medium/large shotgun mics like the 416 but is a great solution as a backup or camera mount and would probably work brilliant with a smaller mic like the 8060 or a Schoeps. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ 4.0 out of 5 stars Much better than expected *by J***R on Reviewed in the United States on May 16, 2012* This is a very nice accessory. It is much nicer than I expected it to be.The main frame of the shockmount, the base, and the knob are all plastic. However, they feel like high-strength plastic, and not like cheap plastic that will crack after a few months. Time will tell, of course, but I have mic clips from other mics that feel like the same stuff and those have lasted for years.Inside the base is a metal liner that has the threads that screw onto a standard mic stand. This is very nice as I don't always have to use this with my camera. For larger videos when I run dual system sound, I can remove the hotshoe adapters and put my shotgun on a standard mic stand. This is very welcomed.The adapters for european mic stands (tripods?), and the hotshoe plate are all very heavy duty metal. Very, very nice. This thing seems made for professional use.The rubber bands though, are a bit loose. They aren't loose in such a way that they fall off. They actually stay on very well. They are loose in that the weight of a heavy microphone will cause them to sag a good bit. My shotgun mic is pretty light (Sennheiser ME66), and it does sag a bit, but thankfully not too much. It seems to work very well in this shockmount. There are also extra bands included in case you need to replace a broken one (or two).Lastly, the whole thing is a bit larger than I expected for a "low profile" shockmount. It's still pretty large and sticks up a good bit from my camera. This isn't really a bad thing, I guess. It can't be too small or it won't have enough room for the mic to move without hitting the sides.
