I was genuinely surprised by the construction and quality of materials. The frame is well designed and finished, making it very easy to setup and adjust the blade. The threads are as smooth as brass fasteners. Enough can't be said for the quality of construction. The clamps secure the blade very well and I haven't experienced any slippage. It may not have all the bells and whistles like a knew concepts saw, but this saw is as solid as it gets. I do enjoy using the knew concepts saw but I don't feel I get any more out of it than I do the Olsen. To be honest I prefer the traditional look of the Olsen over the knew concepts. I suspected the handle to be the one area where they skimped out in order to keep the cost down but I was wrong. Scraping off the layer off paint revealed a well-selected piece of hard maple. Nice! I would suggest anyone buying this saw to do as I did and remove the paint immediately and shape the handle to your desire. One last thing I would like to mention is the saw blade. You don't buy a mechanical pencil without buying extra lead and you don't buy a fret saw without having extra blades. I've seen some people call this saw trash because the blade arrived bent. Of course it did, it's a thin piece of steel banging around a box that traveled 100s of miles to your door within two days. Upon ordering a Fret saw you should always order a set of blades to go with it.
