Review: Reliable - I waited to write a review, because I wanted to see just how long these hold up. I replaced a couple of other supplies with these after the big flood back in May 2020 here in Michigan. So far, they have been working fine, it's now nearly October 2020. The only complaint I have is that the Molex style ends for some of the peripherals are very tight and don't line up well with the pins on some of the drives in the hot-plug cage. Fortunately, most of those styles are disappearing, but I do need them for the older style server cages where the drives are removable. I guess I could get SATA to Molex adapters, but that just adds extra depth to already-deep cages. Anyway, the supplies provide plenty of power and connection options and have about all you need for the average mobo. I do know that power connectors are about to change, and this Molex style will probably be obsolete by the end of 2021. So you might want to stock up with a few of these supplies just to keep your older stock mobos and drives running. I hope Corsair continues to make these long after the change over in power supply standards to a uni-volt system. The multi-volt supplies are going away, which makes total sense to me. The old IBM architecture is gradually becoming less recognizable in modern PCs. I guess it was only a matter of time before the power supplies followed suit. Overall, I give this PS high marks for reliability, no startup issues or "voltage lockups" after a power failure. I've had a few of the old Ultras do that with AMD mobos, and I hate 'em. Corsair seems to do well in those situations. I've not had the supply lock up yet or not start when given the button command. This seems to be a problem on some of my older supplies. Good value for the money and an attractive chassis that will blend with all black cases quite nicely. Nylon covered wires hide all the multi-colored wires effectively enough to use in see-through cases.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Is this modular? At the top it reads semi-modular and below it reads modular,, which is it and what is the difference?**
A: It is semi modular. Semi modular means that that necessary plugs are not removable, but the optional ones for hdds, psu, etc come removable.

**Q: How long are the primary cables? Need to reach around a large video card in a big case.**
A: Joe, it's been a few months since I assembled my system but, as I recall, the cable lengths were all very generous. I don't think this should be a problem for you with this PSU. A big plus is all the variety of cables and connectors that are included with this unit. Very versatile package that was highly recommended to me by a serious "techie" at Tiger Direct. I took his advice but made my purchase here.

**Q: I need two 8 pin connectors and a 4 pin connector (in addition to the main mobo power) does this psu support that?**
A: Yes it does, I don't know why the manufacturer would be trying to talk you into a more expensive power supply here at all.............. *rolls eyes.

If you look at the specification sheet under the CX-M 550w, it does in fact have 2x 6+2pin PCIe cables (so two 8 pins), and it also has a 4+4 pin (4 or 8 pin) for the CPU connector, as well as the regular 24pin connector. The unit is capable of 550w, and the connectors you're decribing are probably around a 350-450w system during heavy usage as a rough guess (dual 8pin says probably a 200-250w GPU, single 4pin CPU connector tells me 65w TDP CPU). You'll find most PSU's these days will have that arrangement at minimum (plus other cables) if they're of any good quality.

This PSU will work great on your system, and should be a solid purchase. (I'm buying one myself on payday).

**Q: The SATA plugs are too thick and don't fit my case's floor bolted SSD. What do I do now? There's no alternate mount for the SSD drive.**
A: First of all change your username, I don't care how uber your shmekel is. Second, get a 2.5" to 3.5" converter (to mount in the regular hard drive slots and not the floor). Here is one I have bought previously:http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002BH3Z8E/ref=wms_ohs_product?ie=UTF8&psc=1Other options:http://www.amazon.com/Notebook-Drive-Mounting-Bracket-Adapter/dp/B00AYJFXIQ/ref=sr_1_13?ie=UTF8&qid=1380143869&sr=8-13&keywords=2.5%22+to+3.5%22http://www.amazon.com/2-5-inch-Drive-3-5-inch-Plastic-Adapter/dp/B0061GEORW/ref=sr_1_8?ie=UTF8&qid=1380143869&sr=8-8&keywords=2.5%22+to+3.5%22http://www.amazon.com/Kingwin-Inch-Internal-Drive-Mounting/dp/B0064VP70W/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1380143869&sr=8-2&keywords=2.5%22+to+3.5%22

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Ordered as a replacement to my old PSU - Fantastic
*by L***E on 7 February 2021*

I ordered this as a replacement for my old PSU which was emitting so much EMI that it was causing my PC to freeze, reboot and caused neighbouring devices all sorts of headaches from the electrical noise it was generating. I grabbed one of these PSU's because it was a good price and Corsair normally makes excellent quality products that are affordable. This is no different and doesn't disappoint. It's excellent build quality and has fixed all the problems I've had with my old PSU. No more freezing / reboots and no more electrical noise interfering with my other equipment. I'd highly recommend this unit to anyone looking for a quality economy power supply.
