Q: How easy is it to open the charge port?

The charge port seal is tight but that needs to be like that for waterproofing. There is a small tag in the recess that is quite difficult to grab. You need finger and thumb to pull this out and fingernails help. I had problems with dust getting into charging port and this case is much better at preventing this .

Q: Is the sound affected by the case and why will generic chargers not fit when the case is on, seems odd?

Like the other answer, normal charger works 100%, we never considered it wouldn't actually. We haven't haf any issues with sound either.

Yes It covers the camera lens. And it's a clear plastic.

It works with indoor charging plate so can't see why it wouldn't work in your car charging pad
