Make note that you cannot just put the whitening tables into the water reservoir as they will not dissolve properly. Even if they do dissolve a bit, the ingredients in the whitening tablet may be damaging to the water pump inside the unit. Waterpik sells a special handle that has a spot for the whitening tablets. You must insert a tip into this wand handle and should hear a slight 'click' when inserting the tip into the wand for the tip to seat properly. Once the unit is turned on, water will come out of the tip. The blue button is used to temporarily stop the water flow. I personally use the on/off switch on the unit instead of using the blue button. If the water is squirting out of the tip, then the tip is seated properly and it's working normal. If the water is squirting out of the base of the tip, then the tip is not seated properly.
