Won't it perform as well as previous Castrol 20-50 synthetics in my bal. and bluprinted auto engine?** A: It is not for Car engines. It is formulated without certain friction modifiers to keep wet clutches gripping. Oil change intervals for motorcycles are closer together for this reason. Do not use it in your car. **Q: How often do u change synthetic oil. In 2012 Flhtk?** A: I would stick to the 3000 mile change as called for in the owner's manual. I know some people say you can go longer with synthetic but I would not. Saying that, much of it has to do with if you do a lot of stop and go city driving vs to hwy, in town driving can stress the bike more than hwy. Oil changes are cheap in the big scheme of things, you should always check your oil and alot can be told by the color and smell. This is the first time i've tried their m/c formula and 20W50 is the recommended weight for the high torque, high temperature V-Twin. This specific oil is listed as being formulated for use in all three cases (Engine, Primary, Trans) and I used it that way. So far, after about a year of use and ~8k miles I feel the oil works well. I saw no changes in engine temperature, shifting ease, or clutch engagement which is perfect. People making claims that their lifters are quieter or that the transmission shifts easier may be embellishing a little bit but to each his own. I should add that in my specific application my bike has a lot of miles (117,000) and I do competition course riding as well as commuting with my bike. Therefore the bike is getting really hot on a regular basis. As a result i experienced a LOT of burn off with this brand of oil. I replaced three full quarts of oil to the crankcase since my oil change 11 months ago. I will continue to use this brand and recommend it.
