However, the Belden specifications also list 30 V RMS as a maximum voltage under "other". Coax cable is not suited for ACV. If you want to know about coax power handling capabilities, the RF power depends on frequency and how much power loss you can tolerate. Power loss heats the cable and the maximum power is 1000 W at 10 MHz and lower frequencies. At 1 GHz the maximum power is 60 W. **Q: Why do you think swr depends on coax type or brand??? what is important is the db loss / 100 feet. please list that!** A: SWR relates to matching the energy transfer between endpoints like the antenna and transmitter. The coax does not change the SWR value but passes it between endpoints. The higher SWR values produce losses in the coax which shows as heat. Larger coax conductors can handle more SWR losses, heat, than smaller coax like RG-58 and RG-8X. DB losses also show up as heat in the coax. If the coax cable changes the SWR the problem may be a damaged cable or it's connectors or the cable is operating beyond its limits or someplace else in the system. Cable length or size does not change the SWR. The 3 DB loss represents 50% power loss. The cable specifications list DB loss and SWR **Q: What is the outside diameter of this cable? assuming i can use lmr-240/rg8x connectors? one post said it was about the diameter of rg58?** A: RG-8X is the same size as RG-59 which is LARGER than RG-58 coax. RG-8X and RG-59 need an UG-176 reducer to terminate in a PL-259 plug. RG-58 will need an UG-175 reducer to terminate in the same plug. SIZE DOES MATTER. **Q: Is this able to properly withstand direct burial?** A: I don't know the answer to that. I'm using the cable above ground, in a vehicle.
