Rather than using both of the included brackets to clamp onto a 2" EMT conduit, you can use one of the brackets and run wood screws through the 4 bolt holes and into the 4x4 post. **Q: Should these be painted white? In the past I had visited with a guy that raised wood ducks for a living. He told me he had a white box in his pen that the hens would not use year after year so he decided to paint the box green the same color as my boxes. He said the hens started using right away. I know this is not scientific, but this how I chose my color. As for the heat I do have testing to prove my boxes stay cooler than mental canisters or traditional wooden. The reason is the vents that were designed into the box. Another feature that was designed in is the opening is a little bit larger then standard for wood ducks to accommodate the Black Bellied Whistler that you have in your state.
