Mechanism and motor seem good and well made. Works well for normal home use. Copes with several sheets at once. Isn't for constant use or anything - has a heat cut off and then works again when everything has cooled down. Basket is a bit plasticy (old one of the same had a metal mesh basket), but at least this one is fully enclosed so there isn't as much paper dust when shredding. Reverse gear is useful when things get stuck.
