Great material and great engraving on blade. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ A hefty chef knife with an outdoor influence *by C***. on January 16, 2026* The Topfeel 8 Inch Damascus Chef Knife is an interesting blade for the kitchen. It looks and feels a lot like a cross between a chef's knife and an outdoor knife - the damascus pattern and layered G10 scales do nothing to change that opinion, and the size and proportion of the blade and handle help in that area as well. The description of the knife all seems to be accurate, although I'm not 100% sure about the real Damascus steel part. There's no dimensionality to the pattern and I can't see it in the ground angle at the heel, and then the unground parts of the knife have a black coating feathered out into the ground parts that obscures the visibility. But the knife is nonetheless beautiful and hefty. It comes fairly sharp out of the box and seems to hold that edge fairly well. I think it has enough merits on its own that I'm not devastated if the Damascus pattern turns out to be cosmetic only. The 2mm thick blade and hunting-blade style G10 scales give this knife a manly, industrial feel. The scales have a lot of sculpting for comfort, though that sculpting is limited to the outer black and orange layers, so it is fairly shallow. It is reasonably comfortable to hold in the hand, and the sculpted points line up well with my hand. The edges along the top can be a bit sharp and I will probably sand a little more roundness into them. Likewise the edges at the spine of the blade near the handle have been lightly dressed but are still fairly sharp and can cause some pressure when using a pinch grip at the base of the blade. I found it better to move the pinch grip back onto the blade, which is still effective due to its relatively narrow profile. This is actually the balance point of the knife (shown in the attached picture) and there are sculpted indentions in the grip to make this a natural gripping point. Cutting both meats and vegetables is easy because the blade is really sharp. The blade is relatively thick, though, so I find it easier to do thicker slices. Maybe this is mental or due to a difference in how I hold it. It makes quick work of chopping the trinity for a gumbo, though. The scales on the handle are actually removable with two hex screws. I took mine apart and did discover some moisture ingress beneath the handles from washing after use. Though I dried the rest of the knife carefully, some drops of water had gotten under the scales. The black coating is present on the tang as well so hopefully rust will not be an issue. There's a lanyard hole at the butt, though I couldn't see hanging a knife of this stature or sharpness without some sort of sheath. I do appreciate that this knife does not have a large logo laser etched on the blade. The clean look is better. I'd recommend this knife for outdoorsy men with larger hands as the grip has some height to it. It would be quite at home in an outdoor kitchen as well.
