The main female character was a complete idiot! I know she was just nineteen and had just learned she had all this great power and stuff but come on! First, she trusted anyone who showed up around her and made promises off the top of her head without any thought of the consequences and everyone else suffered for it. Tell her to do something for her on good, well that's a sure sign she would do the opposite. Which ended in getting characters hurt or killed but it was never her fault according to her. I was't this stupid when I was ten years old! Then don't get me started on her love relationship with Corvus, I love you then I don't, I want you then I'm not sure, this was a continuous whining theme with her. I kept hoping that Corvus would kicked this idiot savant to the curb and find someone with "less power and more sense". I really tried to like her, I really did but she got worse as the book continued, she learned nothing from the mistakes she made or even tried. She was one of the most selfish, self entered, petulant characters I have ever read about. However there is no way in hell a 2000 year old bad ass master vampire would ever put up with the constant tease that is our 19 year old heroine. If you want constant build up with no relief and those pesky never ending "accidental" interruptions every time our madly in love/can't live without couple gets heated than this is the book for you. Emma Leech has become one of my favorite authors from the instant I read one of her books I knew her others book would not disappoint. You can’t help but become a part of the world she has created for her characters it’s like you are literally right there along with them throughout their journey. The exquisite details lure you in and keep you enthralled and immersed in each of her stories.Jehenne Corbeaux is such a unique heroine although frustrating at times, she is very independent, resilient and quick witted. It’s easy to find her character alluring and relatable.Jehenne flees her home in England and her mother’s expectations to be a normal girl and live a normal life and seeks refuge in her strange and peculiar grandmother.Her world begins to shift into something inexplicable, ghosts are popping up, a ghoul and then a revelation from the grandmother about the Corbeaux family, she is a witch just like the rest of the women in her family.The world she thought she lived in is nothing compared to the world she will become a part of. It’s full of vampires, witches, shapeshifters, ghouls, angels and other mythical creatures. It’s truly a magical world full of endless possibilities and intriguing revelations.Corvus is breathtakingly beautiful and powerful vampire, who’s charming qualities will leave you breathless. Jehenne is drawn to him immediately and their lives are more entwined then they are first led to believe.She battles with herself and the choices she has to make, she isn’t perfect and fears her decisions aren’t the best ones, but she must stand behind her choice to do what’s right no matter what people may think.
