I was a little more than I wanted to spend BUT I am glad I did. This is solid wood and fairy heavy. It was very easy to assemble and had all the tools you need right there in the package. It was put together in about 30 minutes, counting reading the directions. I will say that when you assemble it dont tighten your bolts down till you have all of them in place then tighten all of them down. Also I did have a bit of a problem aligning the panels in the front and back so it would all come together. I used a hammer and a small board on top of the panel to tap it down in place...go easy on it so you dont crack or chip it....thus the board and a small hand towel over the board and 2 taps and it was in place. Once fixed, assembly went quickly. The bench is just the right size to fit is an entry nook or behind a wing chair and has enough storage room for around 6 pairs of adult shoes and a couple pairs of ladies boots. Probably not large enough to store pairs of men's boots. Sturdy enough for the men to sit on while putting on shoes. Does not have a locking hinge on lid. Looks good while clearing up shoe clutter by the doorway.
