A: No, it holds the chair together. The arm rests are not adjustable either and very uncomfortable hard plastic, as is the lumbar support: just a piece of hard plastic and incredibly uncomfortable. I hate this chair so much fyi, the foot rest doesn't stay up in place and slides down, leaving your feet dangling. It's a piece of garbage 100%.

A: Fully extended height - 36" inches (floor to top) and 21.5" inches (floor to seat)
Fully down (lowest) - 30.5" inches (floor to top) and 16" inches (floor to seat).
Actual height doesn't even close to what its shown on description or pictures.

A: The seat height at highest is 28 inches and lowest setting is 19 inches
