I am editing my review after using these to make earrings for quite some time. I've started making my own ear wires because these are pretty easy to break while making jewelry. Just trying to add a dangle on the loop can break it, so if you sell jewelry this isn't a strong product for a product you sell. If you are having a birthday party and the kids are making earrings this may be great or if you are making things for yourself for fun or are learning and don't mind breaking several then they are okay. I have not noticed any discoloration of my ears while wearing these. I do have some earrings that I am actually keeping for myself and they really do bend out of shape and start looking rough.
