It's .925 sterling silver, meaning 92.5% silver content, and 7.75% alloy metals, which usually is most or all copper in traditional sterling silver. This combination has been proven to be stronger, more resilient, easier to work, *much less able to tarnish,* and shinier than standard sterling silver. Avoiding fonts that use lots of swirls and curlicues will make it easier to read. Conversely, using simple block or very un-swirly letters will be much easier to read. Having the engraving "colored," if available, will make it stand out more against the background. Check around, and find preferably an independent jeweler (not a "mall" or chain type store) who has a bench jeweler and/or a trained individual who does laser engraving on site.
