There is no crinkling sound at all what so ever, and it is very soft. I was really surprised by how soft it was to be honest. Actually slept directly on this one night when the sheets weren't done drying yet. I bought a queen size and it fits really well, and covers the entire top of the mattress with the water resistant portion. There is some extra space along the sides, so if I decided to add a topper to the mattress at some point, there would be no problem having it still fit around the sides of the bed. I have an adjustable sleep number bed and have had no issues with it slipping off the corners when the head or feet are raised and lowered. As far as the water resistance goes, a glass was spilled on the bed, but nothing went through the cover into the mattress. I do wash this separate from everything else as it needs to be washed with no fabric softener and dried on low to not damage the lining. I also had to make sure the non-water resistant side was facing the drum and do a second spin cycle to get all the water out, but I expected this with any cover. Overall this is a really great mattress cover and well worth it, I highly recommend. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5.0 out of 5 stars Great comfort and fit! *by A***R on Reviewed in the United States on December 30, 2018* I was astonished to get this quality mattress pad protector at a cost less than the model one level down. It does seem rather "plasticky" on the back side but I've not noticed increased sweating or heat because of this. I have no idea if it is waterproof but it seems like it would be. This was bought to cover a 100% natural latex mattress and I believe it's doing its job so far. I especially like that it fit well over the 9" mattress and 2 " topper without gapping or bulges or anything. My husband says he has noticed no issues with being too hot. I've wondered if it's heating the bed a little bit as I feel warmer but it's winter and warmer is good for now! We'll see when summer comes if it keeps us cool and actually breathes. The heat could be the mattress too so only time will tell. Overall I think quite pleased with this purchase.
