I originally bought it for my five year old nephew who, at such a young age, already appears to be musically inclined. He immediately gravitates to the drum set when visiting music stores, so to save his parents the unending headache of hearing drums in the house all day long, not to mention the cost of a drum set, I thought this might be a good option. The first version of the PocketDrum was pretty good and my nephew was definitely in to it, but there was a learning curve given his age. This newest versions definitely ups the game. Much more accurate sound with almost no lag in audio output when moving the drumsticks. And the foot "pedals" certainly deepen the experience. I have no doubt my now 7 year old nephew will appreciate the advancements.
