The shelf is secured to the brackets with zip tiesSummary:I used these shelves to get the junk off the garage floor. It's amazing how larger and more organized your garage can look simply by getting things off the ground. The shelves have earned the wife thumbs up approval. The longest and most frustrating part of the whole thing is finding the studs behind the sheetrock. Once that's done, the shelves go up in a matter of minutes. If your garage walls are bare, installation will be a breeze. The included directions are well written and have good illustrations.The included hardware (6 lag bolts per shelf) is of good quality and unlike some of the cheaper brands I've dealt with in the past, the heads won't shear off in your socket wrench while you're putting them in the joists. The brackets are sturdy, the shelf material is sturdy, and I have no doubts that it can easily hold the proclaimed 250 lbs. The only gripe is that the wire shelf kind of slides into the brackets and sits on them, and the only thing holding it in place is 4 plastic zip ties. Gave me lots of storage in the garage in places I never thought about! These are BIG shelves, 2 feet deep and 4 feet wide. I put them up in my garage at about the 6-1/2 foot level, along a wall where my car lives. I sell a lot of stuff online, so bubble wrap, boxes folded flat, paper towels, are up there.Not that these shelves aren't capable. They are rated at 100's of pounds each, but I don't want to have to figure out how to get a 500 pound thing up that high? Or get it down?
