This is not the type meant for middle-eastern dishes and such. Instead it is a truly fragrant and flavorful strain meant for dishes such as traditional saffron buns and the like made in Sweden, Norway, and England.In the photos, the saffron had been soaking for a few hours. I was following the excessive soaking my grandmother’s saffron buns recipe calls for and soaked overnight. Getting busy the next day, it sat soaking until late afternoon and the saffron itself STILL had flavor and color to it.Although I did not get the recipe right, the saffron shone well. The scent is magnificent and coloring of the buns perfect. The flavoring delicate, but obvious and distinct.With the quality of this saffron, I was highly surprised at the amount provided. It was easily 3-5 times the amount I’ve seen for the same price point at local stores. I will definitely continue to purchase this product.As for suggesting it for others, however, it really depends on what type of dish you are making.
