The question is if you use a fence on a drill press table will the fence block the laser light?** A: It depends on the location and height of the fence. A vertical fence (running from to back) to the right or left of the drill bit or a horizontal fence in front of the bit are no problem. A horizontal fence behind the bit can block the laser if the fence is much taller than the workpiece being drilled. I have had the drill press laser only short time but the only problem I see so far is you have to make sure to turn off the laser to preserve your batteries. **Q: Does it come with the extender plate that allows the laser to be installed further away from the column as shown in user photos?** A: Mine came with everything I needed to install the lasers and line them up with the drill bit. Wait, I did have to use my own screw driver. Seriously - it you wanted more space between the column and the laser mount you could easily make a spacer to move it farther out. But mine fit just fine with only what was in the package. **Q: Will it work on a 25mm diameter column?** A: This is the contact email address ( digital@wixey.com ) for wixely.com. They have no listed phone number so email is their only contact method so email them and ask them if their model WL133 Drill Press Laser will fit on a 25mm or 0.984252" or approximately 1" diameter column without modification. My drill press column is 2 1/2" in diameter and the laser fits it without any modifications. The only possible modification that may be required is to decrease the spacing between the two holding pins so they both come into contact with the 1” diameter column. I don't know what level of accuracy you require but using the Wixley method of alignment the best I could achieve was cross line point accuracy of 0.1". However, when drilling very very small diameter holes that level of accuracy is not good enough so I used a more sophisticated method of aliening the laser lines and achieved a level of accuracy of 0.05" which works for my application. Unless you have a real need for this increased level of accuracy it would serve no practical purpose because a 0.1" level of accuracy works just fine for most drilling applications. Again, you can contact Wixley by email at ( digital@wixley.com ) and ask them if it will fit a 1" diameter column or if it would require modification to fit correctly, I simply don't know. **Q: Does the laser lines blur if the table is lowered? I'm really talking about the crispness of the lines.** A: They really don't get much wider within reasonable distance to the work. However, they are not quite as crisp as one would wish them to be. I had no trouble mounting it, or adjusting it to get repeatable accuracy to about 1/32". I would have given it 5 stars instead of 4 except for one annoyance. I found myself constantly forgetting to turn it off, and running the batteries down. I finally fixed that problem by replacing the two AA cells with a 3V AC-DC adapter. To do this, I had to install a suitable jack in the rear of the battery compartment and move over a few wires. (see photo). As claimed, the device can be adjusted to produce crossing lines independent of the height of the workpiece, It does so by producing two crossing planes of illumination, each approximately perpendicular to the drill press table. The “z-axis adjustment” changes the tilt of each beam to make it perpendicular to the table. However, the supplied adjustment procedure is slow and inaccurate. I have found a better way (see photos). Set the table to be about 12” from the lasers. Place a small mirror on the drill press table so that each beam is reflected upwards. Use small object (approximately 4” in height) to hold a small piece of wax paper to intercept both the direct and reflected beams. If the “z-axis” is not properly adjusted each beam will produce two parallel lines - one line is from the direct beam, the other from the reflected beam. Adjust the “z-axis” screw so that the two lines coalesce. At that point the beam is bouncing perpendicularly from the mirror. Repeat for the second laser.
