It dries as a perfectly black matte color. It does take a little time for the sticky moment to pass. Of course you can speed that up by pressing your lips on a napkin (I used a folded piece of paper). Once dry, it doesn't rub off easily at all! Its very much there to stay. The trouble with that is because its matte and not a gloss, it's not very moisturizing so your lips feel dry at first which might not be good for all day every day wear. After a while though it feels like there'snothingon your lips. If it still feels too dry you can hydrate them with a clear lip gloss, or something similar, but doing so does make the lipstick easier to remove (which is a good tip for cleaning it off later, I believe anything oil based would work like a charm).
