These fence inserts are designed primarily for 5ft 11 or 9 gauge chain link with a two inch diamond. Also works in economy chain link with a larger diamond pattern, but privacy will be less. Slats must be installed correctly and be fully inserted inside the wire mesh of your fence to achieve the desired results. Cannot be used to extend the fence height. Not suitable for fences on a steep slope. - Each slat measures 1.25 inches wide. Bottom-locking Ridged Slats will provide approximately 85 percent blockage in chain link with a 2" diamond. Slats installed in chain link mesh with a 2-1/4" diamond will achieve approximately 80% coverage. Slats used in economy chain link fabric with a 2-3/8" diamond will produce about 75% privacy. Diamond size is determined by measuring diagonally between the parallel wires - NOT corner to corner. - Each box contains 82 “W” shaped slats and three 42-inch pieces of Viper Channel - enough to cover 10 linear feet of chain link with a 2" diamond pattern. Chain link with a larger diamond mesh pattern will use fewer slats but ALL the track provided in each box. 2-1/4" chain link will use about 77 slats per 10 feet. 2-3/8" chain link will use about 74 slats per 10 feet. I installed the slats about 2 months ago. The seller kindly answered a question I had about the gauge of my fence, which is size 8. You can see the full answer in the Q&A section on the listing, but I didn't have any problem installing these even with a size larger wire gauge than the listing calls for. I even installed them on what was one of the hottest and most humid days of the year here.I wanted these for some privacy while the bushes I planted grow to maturity. We live on a corner and I also wanted more of a buffer between my German Shepherd and small kids walking by. This has helped with both.The slats are thin, but I don't think they're flimsy, though I will have to update this review after a year or so after seeing how they do through the winter. At the time of my order, Amazon was selling these slats for the best price I could find online. The cost of a metal vertical fence is very expensive so I bought some slats to try. I did not use them for privacy concerns. They slotted through the chain link fence very easily and I placed them around 4” apart. See photograph. The mesh has bends and kinks in it. I am a 50+ y/o woman, 5'8" with early arthritis in my hands. This project was a snap! It only took me a couple hours to cover two sections of fence that face the street (with initial assistance to place the guide channel at the bottom) to shield an area where we sit around our firepit. Once I got the slat started at the top, I simply used my foot to guide it thru any rough spots, and it snapped into the bottom perfectly. No bending or stooping. I like it so much, it makes me want to do more! You can still see thru the slats outward if you need to, but from the road, you can't tell what is going on behind them. Exactly the purpose!I bought the sand-beige color and it matches my siding well. Good purchase, was delivered promptly and well packaged.
