Second, I believe operator error is the reason there is a lack of success for those that claim spartan tubes do not work. You MUST set a perimeter. Which means a minimum of 4 even if you have 1/2 acre. Keeping tubes away from where you sit, which may be hard for smaller properties. We have just shy of 5 acres. We follow the directions setting a perimeter away from congregating areas and refill with water as needed. So for our property we use 10 tubes which is 5 boxes. Sometimes this slides and hides below the cardboard flaps within the Box. I hope this helps **Q: What is the mixture if chemicals in this that attracts the mosquitoes?** A: Boric acid, water, sucrose and yeast are combined to attract mosquitoes if I understand correctly. **Q: Why is it not available in California?** A: Each time we applied for registration in California they gave us a different reason the product could not be registered. The costs associated with trying to continuously make their requested changes (alongside the moving goal posts) was determined not to be worth the process for our company. **Q: Will this kill knats to ?** A: These tubes do NOT lack carbon dioxide. It’s a beautiful place no doubt but in the summer it’s like breathing through a hot wet rag, the humidity is insane and the mosquitos THRIVE here, all too well. I’m allergic, but I have a small farm on a partially wooded property. I’m allergic to mosquitos, bites will swell me up and itch for atleast a week and I have an autoimmune disease that makes my skin scar badly. The bites BURN, it’s like I can feel it all the way to my bones. I can say these do make a difference, I hang them in the woods near my barn, so when I’m working out here I don’t get 20 bites in 10 minutes. These are expensive but they do help!! Mosquitos bite here from late February to early November. It’s my own personally hell, but these do help!
