It can and will last for years, past the freshness date on the can. I know of a person in 2021 who opened and ate a can of SPAM whose 'best by' date was... 1995. He said it tasted exactly like every other can of SPAM he had eaten. SPAM tastes great and will last for years. **Q: What am I missing? Over $9.00 for a 12 oz can of Spam??** A: I was wondering the same thing - what am I missing? Spam is never this high for one! **Q: How can I be assured that the product is fresh and not approaching it's 'sell by' date?** A: It's spam! The expiration/best by/sell by dates are almost always much later on - at the very least 1-2 years.
